1890s
I made this outfit back in 2003. The skirt and jacket were from patterns I
drafted out of The Cut of Women's Clothes. I was very pleased at
the time how the jacket turned out considering I had never done any tailoring
before. There are several things I no longer like about the skirt and jacket
now (it was made from a wool/poly blend material that refused to be ironed
properly, lol!), but making that outfit was a good learning experience! The shirtwaist
I made using Past Patterns' 1897 Side Closing Bodices pattern. The
parasol I am holding was another "first." I purchased the vintage parasol
on eBay, and after carefully removing the old cover I made a new one using the
old as a pattern.
My 90's wrapper!
I made this back in 2003-2004 basing it on an original owned by Marna Jean
Davis of
Shooting Star
Enterprises.
Details don't show through very well in these pictures, however, the dress has a
yolk in the front and back, and closes down the front with shell buttons.
There is a fitted bodice lining which keeps the back of the dress fairly fitted
when the belt is not worn.
19-Teens
Melody in a lovely teens dress I made for her to wear while performing songs
from "The Music Man" in a musical variety show.
